What is PromptPay QR?
PromptPay is Thailand’s national payment rail. A PromptPay QR encodes your registered proxy — mobile number, national ID or e-wallet ID — in an EMVCo payload, letting anyone with a Thai banking app scan and transfer instantly.
How do I get one?
Register your mobile number or ID with your Thai bank account, then use the bank app’s "My QR" to display or download your code. Merchants apply through their bank for a shop QR that can include a fixed amount per bill (dynamic QR).
Notes for generators and tourists
Static personal PromptPay payloads follow a published EMVCo format, so re-encoding an existing payload for print is fine; creating one from scratch still requires your registered proxy to be correct, so verify with a test scan. Tourists from Singapore, Malaysia and other linked countries can pay PromptPay QRs through their home apps via ASEAN cross-border links.
